PROCEDURES
Procedures are not rules; they are ways of doing things in the best, most efficient manner based on the intent and spirit of the rules. By learning these procedures and making them routine we can focus on our primary job of reaching our goal without wasting time reinventing ways to do day-to-day- activities.
Entering the classroom:
- Quietly enter the classroom and check the handout box, if there is a handout, get one and go to your assigned desk.
- Check the pull-down screen in front or the whiteboard to your left as you enter for any work, puzzles, or activities and begin to work on them. Record the posted objective in your planner. Check any handouts and determine if any work is required and if so, follow the directions
- If the bell rings and you are not working on your work you may be marked tardy. If the bell rings and you are not in your assigned seat you will be marked tardy.
When you are tardy:
If you are absent:
1. While you are absent, not after you get back, check my website to see
what we are doing while you are gone and what the assignments are. (I will
supply you with the current URL) You are expected to keep up with the
class during your absence.
- Enter the room quietly and sign in on the pink tardy sign in sheet. Be sure to fill out the entire form completely.
- If you have an excused tardy from the office, or teacher quietly give it to me. Go to your desk with the least amount of disruption.
- Remember, if you are tardy the consequences can go from a verbal warning for the first offense to detention, calls home or even a referral to the dean’s office.

- If you do not have access to a computer, call me at my posted work
number number and leave me your number and a short explanation of how I can
help. I will answer your questions by the end of the day. When you get
back, use a school computer to check my website to see what you missed,
also check Mr. G’s “Wonder Box” in the very front counter for the dates
you were absent; you will find any handouts, notes and plans along with
assignments. - You are expected to turn in all work you missed, but an extension time
equal to the days you missed after the assignment was given will usually
be granted. - When you turn in the assignment be sure to mark it “Absent” and the
dates you were absent.
End of period class dismissal
Remember, we are a team: even dismissal takes teamwork, so look around to see how you can help the team.
The bell is a reminder to the teacher; it is not an automatic dismissal.

- Before the end of class, return all books and materials to the place where you found them and in the manner you found them.
- Be sure you have recorded any assignments in your planner (required) this will be checked periodically.
- Early in the year there are name tags on the desk. Take yours off the top of the stack and place it on the bottom of the stack.
- The floor around your desk must be clean, any paper, trash etc. picked up (even if it “isn’t yours”) also be sure your desk is aligned with the marks on the floor.
- Remain at your desk and on task until the teacher dismisses you.
Hall Passes
- Each quarter the student will get a hall pass that will allow him /her to leave the room for such purposes as using the restroom or getting forgotten materials.
- This pass is good for only 4 times each quarter and no more. It is your responsibility to plan your time so these problems are taken care of during you passing periods or during lunch before you come to class.
- Once you have used up your passes and if I decide to allow your request, you will fill out a regular hall pass and sign out on the “Penalty Pass Sheet”. In most cases, you will then be assigned a minimum of 5 minutes lunch detention.
